The 35-year-old, whose address was given as The Chequers Hotel in Oxford Street, Newbury, appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 27.

He initially denied being the owner of a female, tri-coloured cross breed named Nala which was dangerously out of control at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading on October 26 last year.

But he subsequently changed his mind and admitted the offence.

Georghiou, who was legally represented at the hearing by Tom Kharran, also pleaded guilty to failing to provide clean, fresh water and failing to enable Nala to exhibit her normal behaviour patterns in Porlock Place, Calcot, on November 25 last year.

Magistrates adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.

They stipulated these should be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.

Georghiou was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
