Paddington accused arrive at Reading Magistrates’ Court




We’re in Reading Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday) as two 22-year-old men appear in court, charged with criminal damage in connection with the Paddington Bear statue incident in Newbury.

Both men, who are engineers in the RAF, have now arrived for the sentencing.

Daniel Heath, of Oakhall Park, Thornton, West Yorkshire, and William Lawrence, of John Street, Enderby, Leicestershire, were both charged with one count of criminal damage.

The charges relate to criminal damage and theft of the Paddington Bear statue in Northbrook Street at around 2am on Sunday, March 2.

Newbury BID has confirmed that the statue will be returning to its home, outside Camp Hopson, soon.
