The centre, which is operated by Veolia Environmental Services, started accepting waste last year and enables processing of food and garden waste into a high quality compost and sorting of recycling collected in West Berkshire which can then go direct to manufacturers.
The official opening on Friday will start with an introduction by West Berkshire Council chairman, Adrian Edwards, after which the centre will be officially opened by Honorary Alderman Geoff Findlay, executive councillor for environmental protection Hilary Cole, and Estelle Brachlianoff, chief executive officer of Veolia Environmental Services in the UK.
