Pair flee as Thames Valley Police stop 'cloned plates' van in Newbury town centre




TWO men fled when police stopped a van in Newbury this afternoon, Monday.

The operation happened around 1pm at Kings Road near the Sainsbury's superstore.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police, Kieren Bushnell, said: "This was an attempted traffic stop following observation of a white Vivaro van which was on cloned plates.

"Officers attempted to stop the van near to Sainsbury’s, and two men exited the van, which was then driven off.

"The men who left the van have not been located and the van has been recovered, but no arrests have been made".

He added: "We would ask anyone who may have dash-cam footage from around the area of Sainsbury’s who believe they may have captured this incident to contact 101, quoting incident reference 422 (28/2)".
