Pancakes at the ready! Annual race at Market Place today (Tues)
Organised by Soroptomist International Newbury and District, the event will see teams of four from a number of local businesses, organisations and groups go head to head to be crowned winners in one of the three categories: Pancake champions, sponsored by the Newbury Weekly News, best dressed team, sponsored by Henwick Properties, or pancake tosser of the year, sponsored by Gecko Communications.
Crowds are expected to line the streets of the Market Place to cheer on their friends and colleagues as they flip their way to the finish line.
The event will kick-start at 12 noon. The Met Office has forecast light rain at around 1pm, however the rest of the day is expected to be dry with sunny intervals.
Pancake lunches will also be served from 12.15pm in St Nicolas Hall.
All proceeds from the event will go towards Citizens4Change, Kenya, and Samaritans of Newbury.
Pictured is the English Provender team at the event last year, at which they had double success after they were crowned champions in both the tosser of the year and best dressed categories.
Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the Newbury Weekly News and NewburyToday team at the event for your chance to get your photograph in the paper.
