Pangbourne appeals for nearly £4,000 to repair village clock
An appeal has been launched to raise nearly £4,000 to repair a clock.
Residents in Pangbourne are being asked to contribute to the fund, which will replace the drive unit on the timepiece, located on the roof of the village hall, off Station Road.
The village hall’s committee said additional work is needed to replace the wooden louvres on the timber tower which houses the clock.
Inspection has revealed these have deteriorated on one side and need to be completed replaced.
The appeal has been launched because the costs of the work fall outside of the parish council’s budget.
The committee warn that without this refurbishment, the clock tower would continue to deteriorate and become unsafe.
So far, the appeal has raised £850 for the £3,850 needed, with a funding page set up on The Good Exchange for donations.
It can be found by logging on to thegoodexchange.com and searching for Pangbourne Village Hall Clock Refurbishment.
This details more information about the appeal, and allows people to add their support to the project, which is backed by Pangbourne Parish Council.
