A team of Year 10 pupils at Pangbourne College is revving up to face the country’s best young engineers after winning a regional qualifier last week.

The regional final for a competition to design and build a fully functional radio-controlled 4x4 vehicle was won by the Pangbourne team’s Supergrediatur; latin for “goes beyond”, beating twelve other competitors.

The vehicles designed by the students were each scrutinised by a panel of judges at the South East Regional Final of the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge held at the CEME Innovation Centre in Essex on Thursday.

DT teacher Miss Emma Patton said: “All of our students were an absolute credit to themselves and the College.

“It was a superb achievement by Supergrediatur and out other team, Team Rampage, were the first to congratulate their peers on their success. I am very proud of all of them.”

The winning team will next go against 24 other young teams at the national final to be held on March 27.
