Pangbourne Hall of Sound gig
THREE-time Music Newfoundland and Labrador Award winner, Andrew James O’Brien, is to perform a special gig at The Hall of Sound Night at Pangbourne Village Hall on Friday.
Andrew James O’Brien was named Male Artist of the Year and Rising Star of the Year and his debut album, Songs for Searchers, was named the Pop/Rock Recording of the Year.
In addition, Songs For Searchers has since been nominated for the 2012 East Coast Music Award for Pop/Rock Recording of the Year’.
The gig in Pangbourne is part of a nationwide tour, taking in places such as Gloucester, Leamington, Cardiff and York. It coincides with the release of his album and his UK debut single City Song.
He said: “City Song was written as an act of contrition; a reflective apology to myself following a particularly self-indulgent night in St John’s. “Newfoundland’s capital city has a way of luring you in and allowing for that abandoning of care and discretion. The more I sing it though, the more I realise it to be a homage to my hometown.
“St John’s is an amazing city. A city of light, dark and a history steeped in hardworking, sacrifice, pride and story.”
Andrew James O’Brien is signed to East Ilsley-based label Western Songs.
The show starts at 8pm and tickets cost £5 or £4 in advance. Under-16s are £1 if accompanied by an adult.
