Pangbourne school wins orienteering competition third year in a row
Girls and boys aged between 8 and 12 at St Andrew’s School took part recently in the British School’s Orienteering Championship in Yorkshire.
Year 5 and 6 girls from the school both gold in their respective classes and the Berkshire-based prep school once again defeated their Suffolk rivals to retain the overall national trophy.
Teacher Glyn Thomas said he was “delighted” with the group. He said: “I am so pleased for them. It was a superb effort by the whole squad. We have had so much support from colleagues and parents, and especially from our local club, the Berkshire Orienteers. We are all immensely proud of the children.”
As part of the day the school visited York and went to the Jorvik Centre to learn about Vikings before paying a visit to the National Coal Mining Museum near Wakefield.
