Paralympic gold medallist pays visit to Castle School
Curling, archery and seated volleyball were all on the agenda during Mr Edmund’s visit on Monday morning.
He also held workshop sessions with small groups of pupils where they were tasked with a number of problem solving and team activities.
Among them was the team challenge to build paper bridges strong enough to support 100 copper coins.
Castle School headteacher Jon Hewitt said: “We have always desperately wanted a sports star to come to our school as sports and PE are so very important to all our children.
“The pupils absolutely loved it, especially when Graham showed them his gold medals.
“At the end they were absolutely buzzing with excitement and at the fact that they had met a true Paralympic champion.
“Days like this are so important to our pupils. They inspire and show that, with determination, spirit and belief anything is achievable.
“I am sure that this will lead to more participation in sports for our young people; something we believe passionately in at The Castle School.”
