Wasps force Hamstead Marshall Parish Council to delay its meeting
A planned parish council meeting had to be delayed due to wasps.
Members of Hamstead Marshall Parish Council had intended to meet at the village hall in Park Lane on Thursday, September 19.
The gathering would have received updates on planning applications, updates from borough councillors, a report on the village’s public footpaths and bridleways, and an update on the community speedwatch scheme.
But the meeting had to be postponed for a week.
A note on the parish council’s website reveals that insects were to blame, after having set up a nest in the hall.
The parish council called in a pest control company, and they have posted a video on social media showing them treating a large nest around the size of a kitchen bin.
It shows the nest in the rafters of the building and the wasps are active.
Anne Budd, who chairs the parish council, said: “Hamstead Marshall Parish Council wish to thank the village hall committee for their quick response and actions in dealing with a wasp nest, in the village hall.
“The next parish council meeting will be held on Thursday, September 26, at the usual time of 7.30pm.”
The website hamsteadmarshall.uk has the full agenda posted to it.
