Parish council votes no to more development in Lambourn

In option one, the 5.7 hectares adjoining Lynch Lane are considered to be suitable for 56 homes while, in option two, land between Folly Road, Rockfel Road and Stork House Drive is considered suitable for approximately 24 homes.
Both sites are outside the village boundary and in an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty (AONB).
West Berkshire Council leader Gordon Lundie (Con, Lambourn Valley) told the meeting: “I’m restricted in what I can say because I’m sitting next to a member of the press.”
However, he added: “We have 2,000 housing slots to find as part of this consultation. If we don’t, national inspectors will judge us to have failed. Then you will get planning by appeal as we will have failed to deliver a planned policy across the district.”
A resident interjected: “It’s just crazy to build more houses in this area.”
At a public meeting to discuss the proposals, following several consultation meetings, residents expressed concerns over flooding, traffic, lack of facilities and public transport.
Former parish council chairman Peter Iveson said: “We should make clear to West Berkshire Council that we want these issues addressed and, until progress has been made, we object to further development in this village. That’s my proposal.”
The council voted to adopt his proposal.
