Parkway forklift truck victim named

The construction worker was killed at the Parkway site in Newbury last week

THE man killed in a horrific accident at the multi-million pound Parkway development in Newbury on Wednesday has been named as Mark Williams, aged 41, of Nuneham Courtney, Oxfordshire.

Mr Williams was pronounced dead on arrival by emergency services after the forklift truck he was driving at the Northbrook Street section of the site for the new shopping complex toppled over.

Police have treated his death as unexplained, and the Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident.

Floral tributes were laid at the spot on Thursday as work slowly resumed on the mixed-use retail site.

An inquest into his death was opened today (Monday) at Newbury Coroner's Court.
