Half-term party at Parkway wows youngsters with balloon magic and dragon fun
Hundreds of excited youngsters flocked to the Parkway Shopping centre during the half-term holidays for a spectacular day of fun and laughter, courtesy of Captain Calamity, writes Maisie Day.
The balloonologist captivated his crowd by pulling out all the stops with three high-energy shows on Wednesday, which included balloon modelling, custard pie throwing, and the appearance of a mischievous dragon puppet named Scorcha.
The show-stopping finale was marked by Captain Calamity blowing up a ginormous six-foot balloon and putting it on his head.
Adding to the spectacle was stilt walker Victoria Sponge, dressed as a towering three-tier cake in a vibrant, eye-catching costume, where she floated through the crowd much to the disbelief of onlookers.
She was accompanied by the colourful Liquorice All Sorts, complete with giant sweet-themed headpieces that wowed families all around Parkway.
Budding artists also got in on the action at a free craft workshop, where colourful masterpieces were created, giving children the chance to take home their own handmade treasures as souvenirs of a fantastic day out.
