Payday loan advice in Newbury's Market Place today





Staff from the bureau will be on hand in Newbury’s Market Place today (Thursday), to provide help and advice about payday loans, with copies of the leaflet to hand out.
The leaflet: Payday Loans, Know Your Rights answers common concerns for those faced with spiralling debt due to payday loans, including Can they ring me at all hours? and Can they Take Money from my account?
The leaflet has been issued as the charity, Shelter, has revealed increasing numbers of people are turning to loans, overdrafts, or credit cards to make ends meet.
One in five people borrowed money to meet rent, or mortgage payments in 2013, according to the charity.
A total two per cent – 1m people – across the country had turned to a high-cost payday loan.
The leaflet is available from WB CAB, 2nd floor, Broadway House, 4 to 8 The Broadway, Northbrook Street, Newbury. Drop in times Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 11.30am, Monday and Wednesdays 1.15pm to 3pm, alternate Wednesdays 4.30pm to 6.30pm and alternate Saturdays 9.30am to 11.30am. Telephone 08444 779980.

CAB staff, alongside West Berkshire Council trading standards officers will be in the Market Place in Newbury today (Thursday), between 10am and 3pm, to provide help and advice about the loans.
