Pensioner's handbag stolen from car in Newbury

At approx 11.52am on Tuesday, the victim placed her shopping and handbag in the boot of her car while she returned her shopping trolley at Tesco in London Road.
She was then distracted by a man asking about the local hospital and wrote down some details for him.
When the victim returned to her car, her purse was missing from her handbag. She looked for the man but could not see him.
A second male was seen on CCTV outside the store with the stolen purse trying to use the credit card to withdraw money but was unsuccessful.
The purse was later found with the credit card, under a bush on the London Road.
The offender who distracted the victim is described as a white man in his late forties to early fifties with black hair which was balding on top.

He wore a black suit with a white shirt which was open at the neck. He spoke in broken English and claimed to be Spanish.
The second offender was a white man, wearing blue jeans, black jacket and a grey flatcap.
Det Con Joanne Bettington, of Newbury police station, is asking for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious or who saw the offenders in the area at the time to come forward.
Anyone with information should contact DC Bettington via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
