Man dies after being hit by train in Thatcham

A man has died after being hit by a train in Thatcham.

Police were called to the line just after noon today (Thursday).

British Transport Police said: “British Transport Police were called to the line in Thatcham at 12.19pm today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

All train services between Reading and Bedwyn were cancelled or delayed, however the lines have now reopened and believed to be running smoothly.
