Petition launched against council's proposed cuts to young people's services

As revealed by the Newbury Weekly News last week, the council needs to find savings of £297,000 from services to vulnerable young people in 2015/16.
It predicts savings of £129,000 from re-organising staffing and management, leaving £168,000 which needs to be found by cuts to frontline services, with some being scrapped altogether and others run at a reduced capacity.
The announcement comes just nine months after the council announced it would be reducing funding to vulnerable young people by £393,000 as a part of its two-year programme to find £11m in savings.
Now a petition, called ‘Stop Cuts to Youth Services in West Berkshire’ has been set up, which has already been signed by 25 people in the first week.
