Plans for 14 flats on the site of the former Kiki's Cafe in Newbury given nod by Newbury Town Council
Plans for 14 flats on the site of the former Kiki's Cafe in Newbury have been given the nod by the town council.
The two block scheme, on Newtown Road, was submitted more than a year ago, and now phased planning permission is being sought, ultimately from West Berkshire Council.
As this plot of land is next to a busy dual carriageway and a development of 37 flats at Steele Close, it is not considered to be suitable for single housing development.
After discussions with the local authority, the scheme has been reduced from 18 to 14 units, which gives a shortfall of one parking space.
There are 22 parking spaces and 14 units needs 23 spaces according to the Local Plan policies.
The plans will now go to West Berkshire Council for the final decision.
