Phone apps for planning apps
The orange notices are placed at the site concerned to alert people about the application and now people with smartphones can scan the codes to access planning application details from the council website.
Most QR code reader apps are free and the scanned web address can be stored in the phone’s internet history for the information to be accessed on a PC or laptop at home.
West Berkshire’s executive member for planning, Keith Chopping (Cons, Sulhamstead), said: “This is an excellent innovation that gives people the opportunity to see basic planning information quickly without the need to make mental or written notes from the on-street notice.
"It’s another example of how the council is embracing new technology to make it as easy as possible for residents to find information they want or need.”
