Photographs of Newbury wanted for new project

Twin Town Association hope to create a "snapshot" of Newbury in 2016

WHETHER you own a mobile phone or the latest hi-tech camera, Newbury Twin Town Association is asking for your photos as part of a new project in 2016.

Where I Live will be one of the largest photographic projects of its kind to be undertaken in the UK, hoping to create a visual snapshot of Newbury in the 21st century.

Organisers say photos can capture anything from buildings or landscapes, to people, festivals and events or even just your own home, school, workplace or favourite food but must have been taken in or around Newbury in 2016.

At the same time, each of the six European towns twinned or associated with Newbury will also be engaged in taking photos of their towns, with the combined results being displayed during the International Twin Town Reunion, to be held in Newbury in September.

Rachel Haslam of the Twin Town Association said: “It will be fascinating to be able to compare the lives of our European neighbours in a year where the UK may be deciding on its future within the European Community.

“At the end of the year, we aim to have acquired a visual collection that can be used as a resource available for general access.”

Participants can upload as many images as they wish to the dedicated website at www.lavidaphoto.eu which will go live on Saturday, February 6.

The Twin Town Association will also be holding a fundraising coffee morning on Saturday from 10am, offering a sneak preview of the project with the public welcome to attend.
