SUMMER is here and so is Out & About, the free Newbury Weekly News quarterly magazine filled with features, fashion, lifestyle advice, food and drink, leisure and a round-up of what’s on, plus six free-to-enter competitions. Out & About is available from various outlets in and around Newbury.

If you’re looking for inspiration for days out with the family over the summer, we’ve compiled a selection of places to visit, mostly within an hour’s drive, plus a few further afield for those looking for something a bit different. Martin Robertshaw took his two boys to visit Crocodiles of the World, the largest reptile zoo in the country just outside Oxford – find out what they saw there and you could win a family ticket.

We all want to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors while the sun is shining, but it’s also tick season and while most of them are harmless, the long-term effects of Lyme disease are becoming more apparent. Angela Knight talked to one family about their struggles to get treatment for both their sons who have been affected by Lyme.

If the rain does come down and sends everyone scuttling indoors, board game wizard John Herring has selected a few different games to try, to keep the whole family entertained.
