Picnic in the Park jubilee celebration in Newbury today
The Picnic in the Park will feature live bands, It’s a Knockout competition, activities for children, stalls and refreshments, including food tasting with dishes from all over the world, organised by
the West Berkshire Minority Ethnic Forum.
Giffords Circus will also be in town, with three performances scheduled for the today, and the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust is planning trips on its newly-refurbished boat Jubilee from Newbury Wharf.
There will also be a royal themed fancy dress parade for children, as well as skateboarding and bike demonstrations at the skate park.
West Berkshire and Oxfordshire folk will be joining together for a unique street party lunch in Goring and Streatley, with tables stretching along the 1km High Street, which joins the two counties, from 12pm.
Other events include a variety show, a water pageant on the River Thames, and a junior Olympics during the course of today and tomorrow.
The historical East Isley Sheep Fair, which dates back to 1620, also takes place on today, between 12.30pm an 5pm.
Another large event planned for today will be the 1950s themed big lunch at Bucklebury Farm Park, between noon and 6pm.
Not to be outdone, Kingsclere has organised a procession, starting at 10am from Kingsclere Primary School in Ash Grove.
Participants will make their way through the village to the Fieldgate Centre, where there will be activities throughout the day.
There will also be a procession in Tadley, starting at 12.45pm from Burnham Copse Primary School, Newchurch Road, making its way to Tadley Treacle Fair in Sanders Field.
