PICTURES: Half term dinosaur fun at prehistoric Parkway Shopping centre in Newbury
Newbury was transported back to prehistoric times last week when a 17-foot-long dinosaur walked the streets of the town centre.
Parkway Shopping centre hosted a dinosaur-themed event during the half-term break with the star of the show being a lifelike Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Hundreds of dinosaur enthusiasts both young and old gathered to meet Zeus, the 17-foot-long T-Rex, who made several 20-minute appearances alongside his ranger throughout the day on Friday, February 21.
A Parkway spokesperson said: “Rex brought his prehistoric charm to Parkway, performing four exciting shows throughout the day alongside his ranger.
“He captivated youngsters with his lifelike movements and antics.
“His ranger Beth Bones taught children some essential ranger moves just in case they ever encountered a T-Rex again.”
As well as the headline act of Zeus, the event also featured the Pre Hee Men – a pair of zany cavemen driving a prehistoric car that was clearly inspired by the popular American cartoon The Flintstones.
Hundreds of children enjoying the half-term break created a dinosaur of their own to take home at the free make and take workshop.
Children also enjoyed a dinosaur treasure trail, where they hunted for hidden dinosaur posters scattered throughout the centre’s stores.
