Pippa shop boost for Mary Hare
Pippa Middleton presents cheque to Mary Hare at the opening of Royal Berkshire Shooting School shop
A LOCAL charity received a cash boost when Pippa Middleton dropped in to the Royal Berkshire Shooting School last week.
Miss Middleton visited the award-winning school, based in Lower Basildon, to officially open its refurbished shop on April 21.
The sister of Katherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is an ambassador for the Mary Hare School for deaf children and received a cheque for £1,000 to the Snelsmore Common-based school.
On cutting the ribbon, Miss Middleton said: “I am thrilled to be able to attend this event.
“The shop is a great asset to Berkshire and I am immensely thankful to the RBSS team for supporting the Mary Hare School for deaf children, as their donation will go towards the Sink or Swim Appeal to renovate the swimming pool and changing facilities.”
Mary Hare’s principal Peter Gale said: “I am pleased to receive a cheque for £1,000 from the Royal Berkshire Shooting School.
“We depend on fundraising and donations to support the maintenance and development of the facilities, which meets the needs of 230 deaf young people from around the UK.
“I would like to thank Miss Middleton and the Royal Berkshire Shooting School for their continuing support.”
The shop sells new and unusual brands such as pheasant feather artist Clare Brownlow, jewellery from BVS, personalised vintage maps from Atlas & I, plus tweed clothing from Really Wild, luxury leather goods from Pioneros, Croots and Life of Riley and handmade scented candles from Josephine Montagu.
The shop also stocks stalwart brands such as Schoffel, Le Chameau and photographer Charles Sainsbury-Plaice.
Managing director of the Royal Berkshire Shooting School, Dylan Williams, said: “We are delighted that Pippa was able to attend today. She lives locally and is a great ambassador for the rural community.
“Many of the brands we are now stocking are exclusive to RBSS and not available on the high street – we wanted to offer something exceptional and have worked hard to create a unique shopping experience.”
