Plan submitted to convert listed offices into 11 flats

The proposal for Phoenix House, Bartholomew Street, seeks to change the use of the Grade II-listed Georgian building from a commercial property to private housing, creating 11 apartments across the three storeys.
The applicant, J Curtis and Sons, said that repair work to the building would be necessary, but promised that it would adhere to the relevant bodies’ rules about historical buildings.
In a statement with the application, the firm said that the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings rules about using appropriate materials would be followed, and said that advice from a structural engineer familiar with historical buildings would be sought where the structure of the building had been affected by deterioration and/or inappropriate previous alterations.
