Planned Coronation celebrations across West Berkshire and North Hampshire




The whole world will tune in to watch the Coronation of King Charles III on Saturday, May 6.

And the towns and villages of West Berkshire and North Hampshire are turning out to mark the historic occasion with their own celebrations over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Newbury

Friday, May 5. Educafe Tea Party, 2.15-4.15pm, Newbury Library. Mayor of Newbury Gary Norman and chairman of West Berkshire Council Rick Jones are expected to attend at 3pm.

Saturday, May 6. Coronation celebration, 10am-4pm, Waterside Centre. Including arts and crafts and sports activities.

Saturday, May 6. Newbury Spring Festival invites the community to watch the crowning live on the big screen, 11am-12pm, St Nicholas Church. Event is free and ticketless. Church will open from 10am.

March 29 – May 7, Craft and Colouring, West Berkshire Museum, make a mini flag or colour in a crown.

Thatcham

Tuesday, May 2, King’s Coronation Picnic, 12.30pm – 2pm, West Berkshire Central Family Hub. Bring your own picnic food and blanket. Royal theme dress up encouraged.

Saturday, May 6, Coronation Party, 1pm, The Mill House, free pizza buffet, facepainting and fancy dress competition.

Sunday, May 7 Coronation exhibition, 10am – May 8, 4pm, Old Bluecoat School

Sunday, May 7. Coronation Tea Party, 2.30-5pm, Thatcham Town Cricket Club. Including a jazz band and dancers.

Hungerford

Sunday, May 7. Coronation celebration, The Croft green, 2pm to 7pm. Food and drinks available along with live music all day.

Aldworth Sunday, May 7. Church service, Big Community Lunch and Group Photo, 11am onwards, St Mary’s Church and Recreation Ground.

Aldermaston Sunday, May 7. Big Picnic, 12-5pm, Meadow Brook in Frouds Lane.

Beedon Sunday, May 7. Coronation Hog Roast and Barn Dance, 6-11.30pm, South Stanmore Farm. Free food and two drinks per person, with a nominal charge of £5 each for guests.

BeenhamCoronation Decorations. School and Pre-School are involved.

Bradfield and Bradfield Southend Monday, May 8. Coronation Feast, 1pm, Bradfield Village Hall, 12.30pm arrival. Bring your own picnic.

Brightwalton Sunday, May 7. Coronation Big Picnic, 12pm, Playing Field. Bring your own picnic.

Brimpton Friday, May 5. Lighting the Brimpton Beacon, 7pm, the field behind the Village Hall. Tickets cost £10 and are available until Thursday, April 27.

Sunday, May 7. Community Lunch, Village Hall. Bring own food. The Parish Council is giving a commemorative mug to each child and young person under 16. Adults can buy mugs at £10.

Upper Bucklebury Saturday, May 6. All day BBQ and cream teas, 12pm, The Cottage Inn.

Burghfield Friday, May 5. Coronation Supper, 7.30-10pm, St Mary’s Church. Tickets cost £20.

Chaddleworth Sunday, May 7. Coronation Big Lunch, 12pm, Village Hall. Bring your own picnic. Food available.

Chieveley Saturday, May 6. Coronation Gathering and Beacon Lighting, 7-9pm, Recreation Centre. Bring your own food. No dogs please.

Design a Crown competition. Challenge for under 18s to deesign a crown to wear at the gathering. Judging and prizes will be awarded from 8pm.

Compton Wednesday, May 3. RAF Benson Flypast, 1-3pm, Compton. Aircraft flying low for local schoolchildren to view.

Sunday, May 7. Coronation Picnic, 12pm, Recreation Ground. Bring your own picnic. Includes Bake Off Style Cake Competitions and a Flower Arranging Competition.
