Plans start rolling in for Theale skate park

The proposed site for the skate park will be close to the play area in the recreation ground on Englefield Road.
Funding for the skate park has already started rolling in after the district councillor for Theale, Alan Macro, secured £5,000 from West Berkshire council through a members bid.
However, the parish council is far off the estimated cost of £45,000 but it hopes to secure further funding through grants.
Speaking at a meeting of Theale parish council this month, Mr Macro said: “It’s always been in my mind that we will have to put some money in. We need to put our money where our mouth is so I suggest we put £4,000 towards the project.”
The parish council will be approaching Veolia to ask for help with funding and the £4,000, which will come from the parish council’s reserves, will be used to help secure funding.
The project has been further ramped up as Gravity Skateparks, based in Hampshire, have been selected to design and build the park.
The company was chosen after skaters in the village said that their design “flowed” best.
And armed with this approval, parish councillors agreed with the skaters recommendations, who will work with Gravity on finalising the design.
