Plans submitted for Barclays refurb
Carter Planning Ltd has submitted plans to refurbish and make alterations to part of the building and create eight two bedroom flats on the first and second floors and build a third floor for three one bedroom flats.
The ground floor is to be turned into Ladbrokes Betting and Gaming Ltd.
Approval for this was granted from a separate application.
A statement by the applicant, said: "The planning application is for the ‘development’ of the site to refurbish and modernise an existing building to retain office space on the ground floor and provide 11 small new much needed town apartments all to enhance the vitality and vibrancy of the local community and improve a prominent corner.
"The addition of another floor to the existing building will not be out of character but will add interest to and break up the profile of the existing building.
"The proposal provides for a form of development that will enhance the character and appearance of the surrounding area in terms of its size, scale, layout, height and design."
The application is due to be considered by Newbury Town Council on Monday and a final decision is expected by West Berkshire Council by mid-March.
