Plans submitted for four-home development in Cold Ash

Plans have been submitted to West Berkshire Council for the erection of four homes in Cold Ash.

The scheme for four homes with associated access, landscaping and drainage works is hoped for land on The Ridge.

Two of the proposed houses are detached four-beds and the remaining two would be semi-detached three-beds.

One existing home sits on the planning site.

The development includes the construction of driveways which will lead from the sites existing access point via The Ridge.

The access point is currently used to gain entry to the one existing dwelling.

The applicant has described the proposed builds as relatively traditional in form.

They are hoped to have pitched roofs but have a more contemporary feel through the use of modern fenestration and a mix of facing materials.

Solar panels are to be provided on the south-facing roof slopes.

New trees and native hedgerows are to form boundary treatments.

The plans have received 17 objections thus far, with neighbours and concerned parties raising worries over increased traffic and overdevelopment to the immediate area.

Some residents have raised concerns with privacy, fearing properties will overlook their bedrooms.

Cold Ash Parish Council raised no objections – though not unanimously.

It also raised concerns with large windows overlooking properties and recommended landscaping on the Collaroy Road border.

It said cladding on the buildings were not in keeping with the village scene and raised concerns with service access.

The fate of the application, which was submitted on March 7, will be decided in early May.
