Plans to build 13,000 homes throughout Basingstoke and Deane

The borough council hosted the exhibition about the Local Plan for the borough up to 2029, which allows for 748 homes to be built each year, the majority of them sited round Basingstoke, but also in Bramley, Oakley, Overton and Whitchurch.
Kingsclere parish councillor and chairwoman of the parish council’s Neighbourhood Planning Group, Sue Adams, said that the sites for the properties in Kingsclere would be decided in tandem with a neighbourhood plan for the village, reflecting villagers’ opinions on its future development.
Ms Adams, said that the group would be consulting widely with businesses and residents over the coming months.
Comprising of parish councillors and villagers, the group was formed in the spring after Kingsclere Parish Council decided to produce a neighbourhood plan for the village.
At a meeting in Tadley last Monday, the town council’s highways and planning committee made an official note of the fact that no sites in the town had been earmarked as part of the draft Local Plan.
The Local Plan will set out Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s policies concerning what will or will not be permitted and where, including new homes, businesses and other facilities.
It also sets out how the environment will be protected.
The draft Local Plan for Basingstoke and Deane is out for consultation until October 4.
