Plans to build near bowls club opposed

Members of its planning and highways committee unanimously voted to object to the construction of the three three-bedroom houses, put forward by West Berkshire Bowls Association Ltd.
The decision followed a detailed presentation from two neighbouring residents present on the night.
One was Andrew Gove, who said that the street was so narrow that two cars could not pass each other with residents already forced to park on the road, and the building of three further houses would only exacerbate this issue.
He added that refuse vehicles had on more than one occasion had trouble reaching all the houses, while the location of the new houses would create a blind corner for drivers turning into and leaving Wallis Gardens.
It was also noted that no consultation had taken place with the existing residents of the street.
Pyle Hill ward member Julian Swift-Hook (Lib Dem) said: “This is an example of developers trying to shoehorn developments into a place where they shouldn’t.
“I firmly propose objection.”
Mr Swift-Hook, also a West Berkshire Councillor for Greenham, has “called-in” the item to be discussed by the district council’s planning committee.
