Platforms at Reading station reopen following 'emergency services incident'

Local services were disrupted but trains are still running after fire service called to reports of smoke from third floor building

TWO platforms at Reading station have now been reopened following an emergency services 'incident'.

Four fire crews attended the scene and platforms 14 and 15 were closed, with some reports suggesting a small fire had broken out.

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Wokingham, Dee Road and Whitley Wood after reports of smoke from a third floor building at 2.48pm this afternoon.

The north entrance to the station was closed but has reportedly now reopened.

First Great Western said some local services were being disrupted.
