Plea to help find missing peregrine falcon
Storm, a tame peregrine falcon who went missing on Monday, could be on a rooftop in the area
RESIDENTS across West Berkshire have been told to look out for a peregrine falcon which went missing during a training session at a garden centre in Berkshire.
Storm, a six-year-old male display bird of prey, flew away from Ladd's Garden Centre in Hare's Hatch, Reading, on Monday, and has not been seen since.
Handler Sadie Shepherd, from Feathers and Fur display team, has made an appeal to the people of Newbury and surrounding areas for help finding the bird, which is tame.
“He is capable of going miles and miles, he could be anywhere. He's not wild, he's been hand reared and will not survive in the wild.
“Hopefully he won't just be found sitting by the side of the road. We are asking people to keep their eyes open, we really want him back safely,” she said.
Storm is wearing a telemetry battery, and was being tracked until the battery ran out.
He is described as having a grey back, with a cream chest, and has a tan orange leather strap on one foot.
Anyone who spots the bird is asked to contact Feathers and Fur on 07812171709.
