Poachers gig at Three Swans

Des Simmons and the Poachers play The Three Swans, High Street, Hungerford, on Sunday (2pm).
Newbury's veteran singer/songwriter Des Simmons, pictured left, first had success with post punk pioneers Wire but struggled to find an outlet for his sharply observed songs about modern life despite a critically acclaimed major label solo album in the 80s.
These days he’s embraced a more acoustic sound, with his ever-evolving band the Poachers, who draw on folk and country, as well as rock, as a backdrop for his memorable lyrics and tunes – many of which are on his new album (produced by local musician/producer Paul James of Blowzabella) which will be on sale at the gig.
Entrance free.
