Pogo Pandemonium at Newbury Racecourse raises £7,200

Top jockeys took on event riders for the challenge, swapping ‘trusty steeds’ for pogo sticks, at the Pogo Pandemonium event, where 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, Sam Thomas, snatched the winning title.
Fellow jockey, A P McCoy, was expected, but unable to make it on the night, due to horse racing commitments:
“He was racing in Doncaster on Saturday, then had to fly direct to Ireland, he sent me a lovely, apologetic text, said organiser, Claire Lomas who famously walked the London Marathon three years ago in a bionic suit, following a riding accident in 2007 which left her paralysed.
A total 160 people turned up and the racecourse venue, said Ms Lomas, proved fantastic, with a delicious two-course meal and live music from The Likes.
Ticket sales, a raffle and some fun-packed betting on the night, sponsored by horse feed specialists, Dodson & Horrell, raised a total £7,200 for the charity, Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.
