Police appeal after acid attack on car
Hundreds of pounds worth of damage caused to parked vehicle
POLICE have appealed for information follow an acid attack on a car at Hungerford rail station.
The incident happened sometime between Saturday, May 28 and the following day when the car, a silver VolksWagen, had been left overnight in the car park.
Pc Salli Ward, the investigating officer for British Transport Police, said the victim returned to the vehicle around 9am on the Sunday and discovered the paintwork on the bonnet and front near-side wing had bubbled up.
She added: “On closer inspection, the victim believed that some type of liquid – possibly acidic – had been maliciously poured onto the car, causing noticeable damage to the paintwork.The rest of the car was untouched and it has been estimated that the damage will cost approximately £750 to repair.
“I am now appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the car park between Saturday and Sunday, or who knows those responsible for the damage, to contact police.”
