Police appeal after car is stolen in Tilehurst burglary

Offenders entered a residential property in Hayfield Close and stole car keys, before stealing a blue Audi A4 convertible parked in the driveway overnight between Sunday and Monday.
A black Nokia E5 mobile phone, a Compaq laptop computer and a PL 200 digital camera were also stolen during the incident.
The stolen Audi A4 vehicle was recovered nearly two miles away in Wye Close, Tilehurst, on Tuesday.
PC Steve Brown, from Newbury police station, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen someone driving a similar car or has information regarding the burglary.
“The camera contains pictures of a family holiday and wedding, which have sentimental value to the victim.
“I would also like to remind everyone that just because you shut your front door and lift the handle up, it doesn’t mean your house is secure, you should lock the door using the keys.”
Anyone with information should call the Thames Valley Police 24-hour non-emergency number 101 and ask to speak to PC Brown.
If you don't want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
