Police appeal after driver fails to stop for officers in Newbury
A DRIVER collided with a parked car and drove the wrong way down a one way street after failing to stop for police in Newbury yesterday.
Thames Valley Police officers attempted to stop a 2014-plate black Vauxhall Astra on Fir Tree Lane at around 12.40pm.
However, the driver failed to stop, instead making off from the officers, colliding with a police vehicle and a parked car in the process.
After leaving the scene, the driver of the car drove the wrong way down a one-way street.
Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the vehicle around this time in Newbury or who may have dash cam footage of the Astra.
Investigating officer PC Joe Gawronski said: "We want to speak to anyone who has seen this vehicle driving in and around Newbury yesterday.
"If you have a dash cam in your car, please can I ask you check it – particularly if you drove along Fir Tree Lane, Gaywood Drive, Leonardslee Crescent, A4 London Road, Hambridge Road, Boundary Road or Queens Road.
"We also want to speak with the driver of a parked red Audi in Fir Tree Lane, which was damaged as the Astra made off.
"Anyone with information should call 101, quoting the reference 43210155414."
