Thames Valley Police appeal for witnesses after attempted stabbing and assault in Hungerford




Police are appealing for witnesses after two men, one of whom had a knife, assaulted four victims in Hungerford last week.

The incident occurred in Fairview Road at around 4pm on Thursday, July 20.

Two offenders, one of whom brandished a kitchen knife, were aggressive and threatening towards four victims.

The offenders punched one of the victims, a man in his twenties, in the face, causing a minor injury.

A member of the public attempted to intervene, but one of the offenders tried to stab them.

The offenders continued to assault this member of the public, kneeing him in the face.

The member of the public left the scene without giving their details so their identity remains unknown.

A 42-year-old-man and an 18-year-old man both from Hungerford have been arrested on suspicion of assault without injury, assault with injury and possession of an offensive weapon, and remain in police custody in connection with the incident.

PC Emily Lewis said: “We are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident and we have made some early arrests.

“We are appealing for the good Samaritan who tried to diffuse this fight to please come forward and contact the force.
