Police appeal for witnesses of A339 crash
The accident occurred around 1pm on Sunday after a Suzuki motorbike crashed on the northbound carriageway of the A339.
Both carriageways were closed from the Pinchington Lane and Burger King roundabouts while the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance airlifted a 22-year-old male motorcyclist to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford with broken bones.
His injuries were described as “serious" by a spokesman for the South Central Ambulance Service, James Keating-Wilkes.
The 24-year-old male passenger was taken by land ambulance to the Royal Berkshire hospital in Reading, also with broken bones.
Both riders are said to be from the Newbury area.
Witnesses should contact PC Sally Barden at Three Mile Cross, Roads Policing, on the non-emergency 101 number.
