Police appeal for witnesses to M4 collision

A car crashed into the central reservation on Monday after trying to avoid a vehicle that switched lanes in front

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a collision on the M4 between Junction 13 (Chieveley) and Junction 12 (Theale) on Monday evening (June 6), when a driver crashed into the central reservation after swerving to avoid a vehicle that changed lanes in front.

The male driver of a black Hyundai had been travelling eastbound, towards London, at about 9.15pm when it moved to avoid a vehicle that changed lanes ahead of it. As a result of this manoeuvre it collided with the central reservation and rolled over, before coming to rest on the hard shoulder.

The male driver was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, with minor injuries and was released later in the evening.

PC Gareth Miles, who is investigating the collision, said: “I would like to trace the driver of a dark coloured estate car, similar in size to a BMW, that may have been involved in this collision.

“The driver may not actually be aware that a collision has occurred behind them.”

Anybody with information please contact PC Gareth Miles via the 24-hour non-emergency number 0845 8 505 505. If you do not want to speak to the police, please call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
