Police appeal over serious injury collision
A dog died in the collision and a local man is still in hospital with serious injuries.
The accident happened at about 6.30pm on Tuesday, February 14, as a 63-year-old man was crossing the A338 with his dog, close to the junction with the B4000 Ermin Street, when he was struck by a Skoda Fabia.
The man suffered serious injuries, including a broken pelvis, and was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he remains. The dog, which was a Rottweiler, died in the collision.
Investigating officer Pc Tim Offer, based at the Roads Policing Unit at Three Mile Cross, said: “I am specifically looking to speak to people who were in a car which was travelling south on the A338 at the time of the collision.
“We believe this car did stop a little way past the scene and a woman got out of the car briefly, but then it drove off. This car was not involved in the collision but the people inside may hold important information to our ongoing inquiry.”
If you can help, call Pc Offer via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
