Police arrest Sports Direct shoplifter in possession of blade and Class A drugs at Newbury Retail Park




Thames Valley Police has confirmed that officers arrested a suspected shoplifter at Sports Direct in Newbury Retail Park yesterday (Tuesday).

Police arrested a 48-year-old Newbury man around 7.40pm on suspicion of carrying a blade, possessing Class A drugs and theft.

The arrest follows a similar reported incident of shoplifting in the same area earlier this week.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “We received a report of shoplifting at Sports Direct at Newbury Retail Park in Pinchington Lane, Newbury, at around 7.40pm yesterday, May 23.

“Officers attended and arrested a 48-year-old man from Newbury, on suspicion of possession of a pointed/bladed article in public, possession of a controlled drug of class A, namely cocaine, and theft. He remains in custody.”
