Reports that house was cordoned off but road has since reopened

POLICE had to close the A4 Bath Road between Newbury and Thatcham following a 'fear for welfare' incident this morning (Thurs).

There were reports on social media of a 'major incident' with 'several police cars' and a house being cordoned off.

Thames Valley Police would not give further details but said it was called at 9.15am and confirmed that the incident had now been resolved.

The road was closed for around half an hour but has since reopened.
