Police correct 'log error' over Midgham accident

Motorist reported for dangerous driving following collision

ERRORS in a police log led to incorrect reports about a motorist being reported for dangerous driving.

The incident involved 10 firefighters being called to the scene of a collision on the A4 at Midgham on Sunday night.

One engine from Newbury and another from Dee Road, Tilehurst, were called out at 9.45pm to the scene of the collision involving a Renault Clio and black Volkswagen Lupo.

Thames Valley Police also attended the incident and only minor injuries were sustained by those involved in the collision.

Police initially said the driver of the Lupo had been reported for dangerous driving.

Today, however, Thames Valley Police spokesman Adam Fisher said: “There are some errors in the police log of this incident. The driver of the Clio was reported for careless driving. The driver of the Lupo has not been reported.”

Part of the A4 was closed for about twenty minutes following the collision but re-opened by 10.30pm.
