Police hunt for armed robber
The post office in High Street was targeted at about 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday).
A man wearing a hooded top and armed with a crowbar entered the shop, before jumping over the counter.
The offender then struck a member of staff on the shoulder with the weapon, before stealing more than £100 from the till.
The man is described as white, clean shaven, aged in his mid-thirties and about 5ft 10ins tall.
He was wearing a grey hooded top with a black stripe.
Thames Valley Police believe the incident might be linked to a robbery shortly after 9.30pm on Tuesday near Didcot, Oxfordshire.
During that robbery two men jumped over the counter at the Rowstock Corner Ltd garage in Abingdon Road, Harwell, and threatened staff with a crowbar.
They stole cigarettes.
The car used to get away in both incidents is believed to be a maroon Vauxhall.
Detective Inspector Sue Upton, who is leading the investigation, said: “We would like to talk to anyone who witnessed either of these incidents, saw someone running from the properties or saw the car involved.
“At the moment, we are treating the two robberies as connected.
“I would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are extremely rare and officers will be out in the communities reassuring and talking to local people.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
