Police hunt for thieves who stole a van before crashing into shop
Thames Valley Police are on the hunt for a group of thieves who stole a vehicle from couriers, TNT in Station Road, Theale, at about midnight last Thursday (January 3).
The offenders crashed the vehicle through TNT’s car park barriers before driving it less than a mile to Crown Lane, where the vehicle was crashed into a wall.
The impact ruptured a gas main, which was dealt with by gas engineers and firefighters from Dee Road fire station in Tilehurst.
During the attempted getaway the vehicle also crashed into the Crown Kiosk in Station Road, Theale, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage (pictured).
Proprietor of the Crown Kiosk, 46-year-old Gary Huntley of Mortimer, who has run the business with his wife, Sam, aged 45, for eight months, said he has had to close the business for the time being.
