Police investigate suspected arson in Newbury

According to Richard Young, the manager of Greenwatch crew at Newbury Fire Station, one fire engine from Newbury and another from Hungerford were called at 9.15pm on Thursday October 11, to Springhurst House, a supported housing block of residential flats.
Firefighters found a cupboard on fire on arrival, in a recreation room and spent an hour at the incident, after dousing the flames.
“All the smoke was confined to a recreation room,” said Mr Young.
No-one was hurt and no evacuation of the premises was required.
Thames Valley Police spokesman, Craig Evry confirmed the fire was being treated as a suspected arson.
