Police launch appeal after burglary at social club

Alcohol, money and soft drinks were stolen from Woodlands St Mary Sports and Social Club last Friday

ALCOHOL, money and soft drinks were stolen from a social club in Hungerford last Friday (January 21).

At about 3.15am, access was gained into Woodlands St Mary Sports and Social Club in Hungerford, where damage was caused to the fruit machine and money stolen from it, along with a quantity of alcohol and soft drinks.

The burglary followed a similar incident the night before (Thursday) at Fawley Recreation Club in Wantage, when extensive damage was caused to a jukebox and fruit machine.

Neighbourhood specialist officer, Pc Claire Drewitt, said: “These burglaries have come as a real shock to the local community who work hard to keep these social clubs up and running.

“I am keen to speak to anyone with information that could help us with our enquiries.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Pc Drewitt on 0845 8 505 505, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
